Healthcare is amazingly good on the Costa del Sol. Emergency treatment is second to none and can be depended on totally. The cost of private health insurance is very low. If you can afford private healthcare the quality of GP care is excellent and should you need to go into hospital, the majority of hospitals are much better than their equivalent NHS hospital. The only negative could be the public sector if you are dependent on this. The waiting times in the GP surgery are similar to those you have already experienced and until you have total command of Spanish, you might find it more difficult to find an English-speaking doctor.
