Leisure and social activities

Leisure and sports facilities are excellent. Remember this is a holiday area and visitors expect good facilities. If you are a golfer you will be in heaven (if you can afford the green fees) but most other sports are also available. If you simply enjoy the big outdoors there are very few places in Europe with such a wide variety of outdoor pursuits. Hill walking, rock climbing, and even winter sports are all available on the Costa del Sol.

Social life is excellent but it falls into two distinct areas. You can either build your circle of friends within the expatriate community, which is very easy, or you can try to break out into the local community, which is a little bit more difficult. Once more, without some ability to speak Spanish you might find your social life remains the expatriate variety.

There are restaurants to cater for all food tastes and eating out is very inexpensive compared to other European countries. The only problem on the coast can be to find typical Spanish restaurants but you only have to go a few miles inland to do this. There you will find wonderful Spanish restaurants where you will eat very well indeed for not very much money.
