Property

The choice of property is another potential minefield. There is a huge choice of available property. This in itself can be a problem. You might see so many properties it becomes almost impossible to make a decision. There is also a huge geographical area to choose from either on the coast or inland so, if in doubt, rent first.

There is an almost unbelievable amount of building going on the entire length of the coast and you really need to look carefully and consider what could be built around your dream property. You could suddenly find your dream turning into a nightmare – your wonderful view could disappear totally.

Be very careful also about buying new property off-plan. It can appear to be very attractive in terms of the prices offered but once more problems can occur. We know of individuals who have experienced nightmare scenarios after moving into newly built property – plumbing not properly installed, sewage bubbling up through the ground and life on a continuing building site for months (or even years).

Similarly the idyllic property in the country can turn into a private hell if you are at the end of a dirt track that suddenly turns into thick mud as soon as it rains.
