Religion
If you are planning a move to the Costa del Sol and your religion is very important to you this could have a major effect on where you might choose to live. Spain is still a very Catholic country so wherever you live there will be a Catholic Church which you can attend so long as you speak Spanish, but if you are not Catholic and you wish to play a part in the church life of your chosen faith you need to choose your location more carefully.
- The Church of England is represented in Malaga, Nerja, Competa, Fuengirola, Calahonda, Coin, San Pedro, Sotogrande, Estepona and obviously in Gibraltar.
- If you are Muslim there are mosques in Marbella, Fuengirola and Malaga.
- Methodist is restricted to Gibraltar and Sotogrande.
- Jehovah’s Witnesses have access to their faith in Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Malaga, San Pedro, and Torre del Mar.
- Baptists have churches available in Los Boliches, Torremolinos, Nerja, Fuengirola, Calahonda, Marbella, La Linea, Mijas, Gibraltar and Benalmedena.
- Presbyterians (the way I was brought up) are not too well catered for. There are churches in Fuengirola and Gibraltar. Perhaps not too many Presbyterians live here!!
- The Mormon faith is catered for in Fuengirola, Malaga, La Linea, Algeciras and Gibraltar.
So religion is well catered for on the Costa del Sol.
