The surprising sports

Considering the fact that you are so close to Africa and the climate is very hot in the summer and very mild in the winter this is probably one of the few regions in Europe where you can water-ski in the morning and ski on snow in the afternoon.

There is a very well developed skiing area in the Sierra Nevada, behind Malaga, which many of the local population use throughout the winter months. Generally, the snow cover is very good although it can be a bit later in the season before it becomes really good. You will find all the facilities you would expect in the Alps, Switzerland or Austria but at a fraction of the price and you will have a wonderful winter sports holiday without having to travel very far from your new location.

The proximity of the mountain ranges also means that some of the more adventurous sports like hang-gliding and parascending are also available
