Going To Live On The Costa Del Sol

The Winter Months

The winter months

There is a winter on the Costa del Sol but compared to what we experienced in the UK it is a delight. In fact the winter months can be the most beautiful of all and often winter days here are similar to summer days in the UK. The weather is characterised by warm sunny days and cool evenings when a log fire is necessary but it would be almost unheard of to actually light the fire during the daytime.

It is for this reason that many British retirees love to spend their winters on the Costa del Sol and return to the UK in summer to see friends and family. It is unusual for the temperature, even overnight, to drop much below 10 Celsius in the coastal area. Frost is unheard of and I do not think we will ever experience freezing fog or icy roads anywhere on the coast.

You do however need to be warned if you move further inland and on to higher ground. In the mountains there is snow and there can be a lot of it. There are ski resorts in the Sierra Nevada behind Malaga, and the Costa del Sol is one of the few places in the world where you can ski in the morning and lie on the beach in the afternoon.
