Physical Fitness

PHYSICAL FITNESS
Hong Kong has a number of affordable health and fitness clubs equipped with comprehensive gyms, personal trainers, exercise classes, juice bars, steam and sauna rooms and beauty/spa services, etc. These include:
- Pure Fitness (32 Hollywood Road; Langham Place and IFC2; www.pure-fit.com; tel. 2970 3366);
- Fitness First (check website www.fitnessfirst.com.hk for locations);
- California Fitness (check website www.californiafitness.com for locations);
- Seasons Sports Club (3/F, Citibank Plaza; tel. 2878 6288). This club can boast that rare thing – an indoor pool;
- Fightin’ Fit (2/F, World Trust Tower, 50 Stanley Street; www.fightinfit.com.hk; tel. 2526 6648). The club offers a combination of exercise gym, martial arts and massage. They also have a gym on Lamma (Island Gym).

Yoga
As in other cities, physical yoga has really taken off in Hong Kong in the past few years, and many dedicated yoga centres now offer hot yoga, hatha, iyengar and ashtanga yoga at competitive rates. Yoga centres include:
- Planet Yoga (20/F, Silver Fortune Plaza, 1 Wellington Street, Central; www.planetyoga.com.hk; tel. 2525 8288). A very full programme of classes running throughout the day includes several different types of yoga, cosmic dance, mantra and meditation, and kids’ yoga;
- Yoga Central (4/F, 13 Wyndham Street, Central; www.yogacentral.com.hk; tel. 2982 4308). Mainly hatha yoga;
- Yoga Limbs (3rd Floor, Dot Com House, 128 Wellington Street; www.yogalimbs.com; tel. 2525 7415). Includes Mom & Baby and One-to-One sessions;
- Pure Yoga (www.pure-yoga.com; tel. 2971 0055). Hot yoga, power yoga and yin yoga.

Tai chi
Join a free outdoors tai chi class at Victoria Park (Causeway Bay), Hong Kong Park (Admiralty – see http://contemporarytaichi.com for details) or the piazza of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, TST (call the Hong Kong Tourism Board Visitor Hotline on 2508 1234 for more information).
