The Health and Safety Act 1974

Health and safety is, should be and will be a critical and important element in everything you do. It is generally accepted that a citizen in the UK has an obligation to consider and protect the health, safety and welfare of other citizens. That general assumption is supported in law, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. The law is complex and there is a further complex framework of regulations and codes of practice supporting it.

Health and safety is therefore something which you should be supporting and promoting throughout the investigations, planning and management of your event. Your objective has to be compliance with the law and the need to protect staff, visitors, suppliers, everyone in fact, from coming to any harm.
