You should now:

  • be aware how valuable radios will be on a large site or at a large event,
  • have researched among the commercial radio hire organisations to establish the numbers required, base station, cost, etc.,
  • have requested at least three quotes, including charges for delivery, set up, on-site base station operator, possible generator, possible training, collection and removal,
  • have asked the suppliers to include availability in their quote and to confirm that they can supply your requirements for your proposed dates,
  • have designed a radio issue administrative procedure to keep track of issue and return (if the suppliers don’t have one),
  • devise and introduce a method of sending emergency messages, and
  • have identified those members of event staff who need a radio, e.g. event manager, cashier, police liaison, ambulance, etc.

Product completed

  • Details of any radio equipment supplier.
  • List of staff and liaison staff (police, ambulance etc) who will be issued with a radio.
  • A radio issue administration procedure if not provided by supplier.
  • Emergency radio log defined and produced.
  • Required training session content and schedules where required.
  • Checkpoint review – authorisation to continue.
