Progress – Chapter 9

You should now:

  • realise the critical importance of making an accurate estimate of audience size and be ready to use at least three methods of calculating that size to give you confidence in the resulting estimate,
  • know that different circumstances may affect attendance at your event and so you should monitor external circumstances to track and, if possible, minimise any detrimental effect,
  • accept that you may wish to start small if it is your first event, but remember that grand ideas may result in grand profits or grand losses,
  • realise that there is a limit to the number of people your event can handle, due to venue, legal or space limitations,
  • realise that audience size will feed in to calculations about car parks and size of site, and
  • give a checkpoint presentation to a new group, to confirm your results are ready to move on to the next phase.

Product completed

  • An estimate of attendance (from at least three methods of calculation).
