Records of procedures

Defining and producing procedures is of no use if they are not actually available to be used at the event. The procedures should therefore be kept in the event manager’s manual:

  • The pages should where possible be laminated or protected in plastic wallets.
  • The manual should contain a simple but extensive cross-referenced index (so that for example ‘heart attack’ could be found under ‘H’ for heart, ‘A’ for attack, ‘F’ for first aid and ‘C’ for collapse etc.) and the page reference (e.g. 21/1) should be shown to allow for quick reference – see ‘Sample procedure’ below.
  • There should be at least three copies of the event manager’s manual – with the event manager, the cashier and at the main gate. You may wish to provide a copy in the roving car park supervisor’s vehicles as well as at other locations. Then if there is a problem involving the event manager’s office, the manual is still available.
