Sponsorship

Don’t forget the benefits of sponsorship. You may get sponsorship on any aspect of the event. For example The UK and North West Europe Model Aircraft Magazine (if it existed) might advertise your event for free and even sponsor prizes for the model aircraft event we have been using as an example. The local sign writer might produce the main signs as long as their details are prominent and they can have a free stall on the event site. A pet food manufacturer might sponsor prizes at a pet event and will profit from selling thousands of cans of dog or cat food at the event themselves.

Explore every avenue of sponsorship and don’t forget to make this an early task in the planning and arrangements. Remember though, some organisations allocate their sponsorship funding a year or even two years in advance, so remember that you have to get in early!

The larger and more successful the event, the more likely you will be to attract sponsors. Sponsorship can significantly benefit the balance sheet for the event, so early commitment to sponsorship should be sought. Sponsorship funding is very limited, but it’s always worth trying to find it.
