Vehicle Passes And Permits
Vehicle passes and permits
For various reasons, some vehicles will be allowed access to areas where the public is not allowed. The police, car park attendants and marshals must be able to quickly and easily identify any vehicles with special parking and access permissions.
For larger events, the simplest way of arranging this is to issue clearly visible passes that those drivers can display in their windscreen. The passes can have printing on them, but colour, shape and size are more important than the printed contents.
Just as disabled badges are orange or blue for simple identification from a distance, your car passes should be in similar bright colours. Instruct all drivers issued with them to display them clearly, in say the top corner of the passenger-side windscreen (as long as it does not obstruct the driver’s vision). Make sure that they understand that without the pass displayed they will be refused access and directed to the public car park. Then it is a simple matter to know that red passes are judges, blue passes are stallholders and green passes are staff etc. It is then even easier to wave them into their allocated entrances without any delay or obstruction.
