You are now in a position to discuss each person’s role in the organization. This is something very few managers do. Most managers issue a job description or competency framework to staff when they start in a new job. Some managers explain what their colleagues do and how they contribute to the results of other members of staff. Few managers try to explain the big picture to their staff.

Can you imagine trying to fit a piece of jigsaw into a puzzle when you have no idea what the rest of the picture is?
