Open Learning
Open learning
This offers the trainee the freedom to choose when and what they learn. It may be a computer-based programme that they can work through alone and may be on their own work computer or in a learning centre somewhere in the workplace or at a local college. Sometimes open learning is paper-based, with the trainee working through a series of workbooks using work-based experiences to answer questions and complete exercises. Open learning is usually supported by tutors to guide and answer questions. It requires the trainee to be dedicated and willing to make the required effort on a regular basis. But the flexible timing and length of learning sessions can provide a good way for people to manage learning alongside fluctuating workloads.
