What issues are most important to the managing director?

• Is their position and status something they protect?
• Are they a hands on or hands off manager?
• Do they delegate or tend to do things themselves?
• Do they feel the need to be ‘kept in the picture’ all the time?
• Do they like seeing their picture in the newspaper or business publications?
• Do they enjoy addressing the ‘troops’?
• What is their pet subject, i.e. are they a financial wizard, a marketing expert, a purchasing genius, etc.?
• What are their personal strengths – political manoeuvring, entrepreneurial approach, getting people to do what they want, public relations, risk taking, being ‘of the people’, generating personal loyalty, etc.?
