Preface
Julie-Ann Amos is a Human Resources Consultant with considerable experience in recruitment. She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Her books on recruitment have been translated into several languages.
Job interviews can be daunting, because often there is our very livelihood at stake. A little preparation and understanding about how interviews work can help. Even better is understanding the purpose of the different stages of interview in the recruitment process, and where the balance of power in those interviews lies.
This book is not about manipulating interviews, or quick hints to pass difficult ones – although you will receive knowledge that will help you get through the worst of them. It is about understanding why you are there, and what to do when things get difficult. It’s about knowing your way through the recruitment process so that each hurdle is cleared to get you the job you want – if it’s right for you.
