CHILD SUPPORT ACT 1991
This defines a duty to maintain and for the purposes of this act a parent of a qualifying child is responsible for maintaining him or her.
The purpose of the act is that an absent parent shall be taken to have met their responsibility to maintain any qualifying child of theirs by making periodical payments of maintenance with respect to the child of such amount, and at such intervals, as may be determined in accordance with the provisions of the act. The act defines the welfare of the children in general principles and sets out a calculation of maintenance.
