PROVISIONS OF A WILL
The main purpose of a will is to give to your executors, the people you have appointed to carry out the terms of your will, instructions as to what should happen to your estate after death. Subject to the rules on cutting out a member of your immediate family or those who you support you have complete testamentary freedom. Subject to the payment of your funeral and testamentary expenses, including any inheritance and income tax you may owe, you may leave everything to the cats’ home if you wish.
Wills can be straightforward or complicated. A will should be easily understandable by those left behind. If they become too clever they will create uncertainty and your wishes may not be carried out. A simple test is that you should be able to read it once and understand it.
